Any of you guys fish flooded crop fields when the river is UN fishable in the spring. I have heard the old timers talk about it but don't know how it will work out?

Yep, the only time they will be there is when water is rising, as soon as water recedes they go back into the river. Ive had some awesome days in corn fields, pitching floats with cut bait. A nice bass flipping stick is perfect for that kind of fishin.

Yes sir! They can really pan out to be great areas! Esp. Early spring. Sun warms flooded shallows fast, and fish move up with the highwater to pursue food. We have caught numbers of channnel cats and flatheads in this scenario! rollo

Around here the blues go into the fields and feed on worms, we set up in the river just above where the water is draining back out of the fields into the river and put a wad of night crawlers on a hook and set up just above the drainage. Huge blues are caught this way every year.
