Any of you guys do any good from 2am or so until the early morning? It seems like I normally get my best bite from dark until 1am or so. I work late nights and get off at 1am and have went to the river before after work and never really had much luck. I know that any time on the river is better than on the couch so that's why I still go out after work during the week sometimes, but do you guys think fishing at this time of night is worth it.
Also, do you have better luck during different times of the night during different times of the year? It's still early and not really really hot yet so the early night might be better now but late night better in the hot summer days. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I live in the Columbus area and mainly fish the Scioto around here and south of Columbus so if anybody else gets out and fishes late night and wants to meet up sometime let me know and we can meet up.

My best luck is right before dark till a few hours after then I sometimes get a good morning bite. On days that or overcast we have caught flats up into the late morning. Fishing the right spots, Flatheads can be caught all day long.

I agree kip about peak times. At least in my experience. I know guys ho fish below y- bridge regularly between 1 pm -2 p30 hot of day and catch big fish! Theory alot of oxygen in water coming off of dam water moving good. I'm talking all summer not just once in awhile seen it alot so I believe.

Our best bite during prespawn is an hour before dark to 11. We rarely catch fish from 12 to 2. But always seem to get good activity at 2 am to 3. And then 5 am to sunrise. I worked afternoons the last 2 years, and usualy go after work once or twice during the week. Ill usualy not take the boat then and just hit a few walk in spots with a couple bobber poles. I usualy fish until daylight and head home to get some sleep.

Yea the late shift definitely causes some sleepless days Ducky. Especially during the rut. I'll get home at 2am and sleep for about 2 hours, wake up at 4am and drive to go hunt. Then hunt until I have to go back to work. I got a buddy who works late too and I'll have to convince him to head out with me after work a few nights.

Personally I love afternoon shift, waterfowling is my passion and I hunt everyday when season is in. Bow huntin and flathead fishin are not far behind though lol.

Where I fish, I have only caught flathead after 1 am one time. I have stayed all night too many time to count. I have a good friend who insists I need to fish all night to catch more flatheads. But that just hasn't been my experience. He does fish lakes a lot more than me though, which might make a difference.

Never waterfowl hunted before Ducky, but it looks like a blast! I'm sure I'll get into it one of these days.
I'm right there with you Chuck. I've pulled all nighters many times and not had a nibble after about 1am or so. Most times I end up laying my head down near my clickers and going to sleep for a few hours, only to wake up to one of my buddies pulling out my line lol.
