The pontoon boat I got doesn't have the welded on bracket on the toon for a transducer. Has any of you ever seen any homemade brackets for these? I tried looking online and didn't find much. On top of the toons there is a flat shelf with plywood on it for the gas tank and batteries. I thought of screwing a piece of metal to hang down off of this shelf and be flush with the bottom of the toon, and then mounting the transducer to it. There would be about an inch gap between the back of the toon and the bracket. You guys think this would work or have you seen it done any other ways? Thanks

That would be best. just make sure its a strong aluminum piece so it doesn't rust. Or you could try bolting onto the bottom of the transom. just in front of the motor.

Yea there is a spot right in front of the transom that has a gap in the bottom so it holds water and that is where the livewell pump is. I figured the motor would throw off the reading. I saw some straps that people put on the small personal float pontoons. Just a heavy duty strap that they wrapped around one of the logs and hooked the transducer to. I don't know if I would trust a strap at higher speeds though. I'll see what I can rig up and post pics. Might end up having a bracket welded on if I have to.

Ive only got 9.9 on my 24 ft pontoon. high speed is definitly not a problem for me lol. I had a buddy with the same problem on his pontoon. he just bolted his to the end of broomstick and had it inside a pvc pipe with a bolt through it to hold at any position. worked pretty well. looked a little backwoods. But he didnt mind.
