Going out for channel cats tomorrow and I'm in a real pickle about what bait to use. I'm going to be using bluegill unless I can get my hands on some shad. 2 questions. What size gill should I use? Should I cut them and if so what part of the fish should I use. We will be running 4 different poles so I can mix it up on a couple of them.

I'd use live, heads and try a filet off the side. See what works best. Bluegill heads can be a killer bait ESP. In the spring. Size is not an issue in that lake.
