I took my boys out for a little lastnight on their first catfishing experience. My 6yr old wanted to leave after about an hour of being set up, so we didn't get to fish too long. My 5yr old was all about it though and wanted to stay. As I was picking up all the stuff and taking it to the car, one of the rods got a run and my boy started reeling like crazy except the reel wasn't enguaged. LOL. I told him to push the lever up and when he did the rod doubled over and he started screaming and laughing. I didn't touch the rod at all and he caught his first Flathead. He loves it and said he had dreams of catching a big boy. I cant wait to get him back out when we can stay out longer to give him a shot at a heavy weight. Attachments:

thanks for the replies guys. He is def. hooked. His goal is to get a bigger fish than his sister. Her best is #14. She has been hooked up on some real big fish, but she just isn't strong enough yet to get them in. When I take the kids out I let them do all the work to hook and reel the fish in. I tell them if they want to brag about the fish they catch then they have to be the one catching the fish and not me. Here is a pic of my daughters Pb. Attachments:

Nice to see those young'uns fishing and not on a video game. Keep them out there on the fishing bank.
