What do you guys use for a fishfinder / anchor?
I struggled last night spinning in cirlces in the current of the river just using 2 10# anchors..
And our fish finder is from 1990 so I would like to upgrade that as well..
I like a few of the Humminbird models. We want down imaging, gps, water temp, speed, stuff like that..
Thanks for the help, Ed

I have the 1198c Humminbird. Unreal the things you see with this unit. Humminbird makes a few other model that are cheaper with the same features just a smaller screen size. I suggest you check out the 798c. As for anchors I use a river style. I think it's really important to have a good section of chain on front anchor and make sure you let plenty of line out. My front anchor is 20#s I have no prob holding. Weight isn't the biggest concern it's adequate dig and plenty of line out.

I have the 798c it's a great unit. Getting the transducer set up right sucked, but other than that, no problems I wish I could afford the 11 series like Kip has. I just picked up Cat River anchor. You should look into them. Really nice. Plenty of good options out there to choose from.

If you want down imaging I would defiantly invest in side imaging as well. In my opinion it's more versatile than down imaging because you can scan a large space parallel to your position. Good luck!

The best anchor you can get in my opinion are these... www.basspro.com/Digger-Anchor/product/8740/ Those things are amazing and i have yet to ever lose one... in trees or rocks or anything they hold well and if you get hung up they break away. Better then spending $30 a pop plus rope for other anchors. As for fishfinders I have the lowrance HDS 10 with down and side imaging... I LOVE IT. you can see all the limbs and what things actually are instead of a blob on the screen. I can stop the image and zoom in to see if its a ball or shad or something else. It's very impressive to say the least.

I'm not far from the rest of the group. Humminbird and Cat River Anchors.
