When do the flathead actually spawn, and is it better to targets undercut ledges and banks and shallow water during this time? Anyone fishing this weekend to?

Most years you can count on the spawn on the first week in July. I used to only fish on lake for flathead and could never catch a fish during the spawn. Now I fish six different lakes. Certain lakes seem to have later spawning fish, so i try to fish the lakes accordingly. Also for some reason it seems some lakes the flathead are much more aggressive during the spawn and you can catch them, and other lakes its like they disappear for a month.
