Anyone doing any good trolling or drifting the lakes for channel cats lately. Our creeks and rivers are blown out and im thinking about hitting a lake for channel cats. My only concern is that im seeing some spawning behavior on the rivers down here. Males are turning black and swelling up and thr females look good and plump.
Just wanted to see if I needed to pick up some peg floats from wallyword after work. Or just anchor and fish. Thanks.
And yep its a new phone once again.....4th phone in a month. My phones screen cracked, I switched to my dads old one and it locked up for good, got moms old one and it crashed and wiped everything twice in one week. Now I made the choice to get a new one and not deal with the hassel of a used phone. Its a samsung galaxy s4. So far I love it

Caught some a cpl weeks ago drifting at Buckeye Lake. A lot of times I'll still use peg floats when anchored because of the muddy bottom out there. I've seen some spawning signs as well but not sure if they are yet or not.
Does the spawn change if you drift or anchor? Just started drifting a lot this year.

I assumed anchoring would work better when they were spawning since they would so less roaming....but im mot 100% sure. Kinda the reason I asked.

Nope just hit the creek below the lake and sort of bass fished for channels. I took peices of cut bait and put them on a half ounce jig head and tossed it into snags. Bounced it around a little and then re casted to another area of the snag. Its usually a blast and you catch tons of smaller cats that way....however i Ended up getting skunked.

Sucks to hear that. The rivers around me are flowing fast right now but not too high. I might try a couple calm eddies this weekend or hit a lake for channels. I'll post how I do if I get out. I'll probably try drifting and see if it's productive this time of year.
