I have seen a few guys mention that they know how to catch spawning channel cats on other forums but I never ask them how they do it. We know of a few spots where we catch spawning males in between docks while bank fishing out on a local lake....but other than that my experience is rather limited when it comes to targeting spawning channels.
Anyone have any tips?

Caught a lot spawning males by rocks before. Anchored not drifting, but I just started drifting so not sure if it would be productive or not during the spawn.

Went out to Buckeye Lake saturday night and ended up getting on some bigger channels. Was a little slower night but ended up with 15 or so. Caught a 9lber being the biggest and most of the 15 were around 5lbs. All were fat females full of eggs. We were anchored in a channel with rocks on one side and docks on the other. Caught them on both sides closer to the banks. Fished a cpl spots but this is where we had most of out luck. Caught most on bluegill heads. Wasnt getting much activity on anything else. Ended up being a good night with a lot bigger fish than usual.

We tried fishing wood at first....then moved to a shallow flat near some really deep water. We typically do well at that spot in the fall, but nothing was interested there either. I hate june.
