At the last minute i decided to hit the river last night. And of course my top choice to fish was already taken. So i decided to hit a spot that i have purposely ignored for 2 years because of fishing pressure caused by "Press" from another site. I got there about 8:30 and decided to quickly throw the net. I got 2 redhorse suckers on my first throw. From there it was game on. Using a live shad and cut sucker i got the rods out. Within the first 10 minutes i noticed my rod slowly start to bend. Clicker slowly rolled out and i hooked up. About half way through the fight my other rod took off. A double header to start the night, 23 and 5 pound flathead.   There was a little bit of a calm period then i nailed another 11 # flathead  . Unfortunately began to run low on bait and also had 2 nice fish come unbuttoned heading up current i decided to call it a night. 8:45-12. 23, 11, 5 pound Flatheads and one 8# Channel. Good deal. Its always nice to get into numbers. Im headed out tonight to get some bait for tomorrow and satuday. All these good reports are getting me excited.;D

Nice fish Nate!!! I know that quite a few certain good areas down there have been beaten to death this year it seems. One day people will learn that loose lips sink ships....

One day people will learn that loose lips sink ships.... yep. sad to see around here. I'm having a better year big fish wise but have to get bait with the possibly of knowing I may have to go to 3 different spots to find a open one. poaching is at a all time high currently |
