Anybody know of anyone that would put new stainless eyes on an Ugly Stick catfish rod?? The eyes that are on them get bent up toting them around in my truck and Im tired of it but I love the rods for channel cats. Just a thought it may be kinda cool to have a semi custom rod also. Let me know please. Thanks

I know Lyle from Blackhorse Custom rods will do it. Not sure if it would be worth the cost or not to replace them. Get ahold of Blackhorse on here. He will be happy to answer any questions you have

I do this for guys all the time, mostly in the winter. It's really not cost effective as you can buy a new rod cheaper. But some just can't part with an old friend. I have a test blank that has been built 7 times in 7 different forms and it's still going, and has never left the house, never had a reel on it and may never see a fish, but it's an old friend.

Hey, Thanks guys for the feed back! Well after the reply back from Kip and thinking about it I did some research and decided I would do this myself. I have already started the project on a 7 ft. Ugly Stick casting rod that I got earlier this year. I have removed the reel seat and have the handles completely stripped off. I ordered a new red and aluminum two tone reel seat and 50 ft. of black and red two tone parachute cord. When I get that complete I am going to attempt the eye replacement and adding a nice heavy duty hook keeper. This is going to be a fun project, I have been taking pics of the work so far and will post them as I go. I really like my Ugly Sticks for channel catting and I just think it will be cool to kind of customize this one to what I like. Thanks!!

Did a little more work on the rod and figured I would post some pics. For some reason the first few pics I took were messed up but we all know what a rod handle looks like anyway.. Here is the blank handle cleaned up good and part of the new wrap. Just an overall progress shot. And a close up of the new wrap so far, when I wrap the rest of the handle I will show more pics of the process and how I am doing it. I will be getting the new reel seat this week and should have the handle completed next week some time.

Thanks guys!Skyline I just used calipers to measure the butt end of the rod. I will be sliding it on that end so it will have to clear the fattest end of the rod.I also wanted it just a little bigger to hide one end of the para cord wrap.I will fill the void with epoxy, I hope!!lol Everything I'm doing is new to me, I just watch Youtube videos and read what I can.
