It seems to me after being part of the catfishing industry for a few years and having released my book that the catfish world may be ready for some real media dedicated specifically to us other than the internet.
What would you guys like to see? TV show, magazines, etc....

Well, Paper media is going out real quick. I can't find a catfish insider anywhere local in Alabama. Maximum Catfishing comes out at the first of the year but not going to be available except on WFN in which some cable and satellite carriers do not support WFN. I had to change Satellite companies to get it. I really don't know the answer unless a high profile show aired on ESPN. Magazine my work if it was home delivered UPS as well as on the shelves. But targeting the right areas for counter sales would be hard considering some areas may sell a lot more than others.

If there was an organization like Bassmasters where you became a member and it followed all tournaments not only their on. Where all Regular recreational Catfishers and tournament Catfishers could join and all of the events nationally could be covered and still have articles about regular stories, tech articles. fishing tips, conservation etc. a magazine would be very nice that covered every aspect of the sport. That would take quite a few people working continuous to make that happen.

I'd like to see a regular weekly catfish show on tv. Their are hundreds just for bass alone. One or two for catfish would catch on a lot faster. With weekly guests and current products. I Have often thought about starting my own. Anytime I have seen one they are only catching one to two pounders and its on a trot line (not realy fishing). A real catfishing show is what the public wants.

heck yes mexicanthreat... i think the catfishing community is tired of the little fish and want to see some real fishing, but the marketability of catfish is smaller because of them being harder to catch the larger specimen... The fact of selling so many plastic and other fake baits is what the companies want... they want to keep people interested in the bass so they can make more money

i underdtand the marketability of products. Other than lures catfishing products outweigh bass by a huge margin. when you factor in the products for bank fishing. chairs, holders, coolers, fish baskets, and countless other items including camping gear. And for boat fishing, Boats and sonars, charter services, lighting systems for night fishing, and I could just go on and on. just a lot of things you would never use bass fishing that most normal people would use everytime they fish. And then theres the actual fishing gear poles and reels and new hook types, cutting edge lines, and the stuff to make your own gear. Its a simple fact more people catfish than bass fish. It's just easier, and if there was shows for people to see how to land fish as big as they are, the only time people would bass fish would be for bait.

the hours of catfishing make it a harder sell too. bass fishing, eye fishing and pan fishing can all be done in the daytime. if cat fishing was a 9-5 day many more people would do it. blue cats are different story, but here in ohio for the most part daytime catfishing is a no go. southern states have more media geared toward blue catting

It seems that you guys would like a new TV show. I can agree the world is ready for one and it has been thought about. The question with television is will the advertisers that are required support such a thing.
Also, on the 9-5 comment. While I can't talk about flatheads I have made a career out of 9-5 channel cats. Keep the ideas coming.

Oh yea dude I was talking more specifically to our area Brad. For trophy fish we need to fish the 3rd shift hours so other fishing is much more popular. Sorry if the comment came across like deragatory that wasnt my intention at all, just a statement on why its easier to market towards different species in our area. We can catch channels during the day, but we just dont have the caliber of fish you guys do. Again I wasnt trying to sound negative, so sorry if thats how it came across.
I agree that a TV show would be good, something that gains some attention from other companies and anglers.
