Looking for some smaller reels for channels. Old, new, used, beat up, doesn't really matter as long as it's in working order. Also I saw some people online recommending those Ming Yang reels if anybody knows anything about them.

a thing of advice... if you are getting a baitcaster get one with a clicker it is soo much nicer... and my X brother in law has had a few ming yangs and he likes them and they are very similar to a abu garcia... but i wouldnt recommend one because i would get a name brand just for the fact it is probably better made abu's arent super expensive, but I havent heard anything bad about them

I normally don't run my clickers from the boat. I just put them in the rod holders and let the circle hooks work their magic. I mainly drift or run bobbers for channels as well. But there are some years where Abu made 5500s with clickers on them, and yes that would be ideal just in case I decided to use it.

I've heard a lot of bad reviews on the ming yang reels. They sure do look good though. LOL Where you been Kip? Do you got the Flathead Blues. Glad to see you posting again.

Found an older 5000 on ebay for $15 free shipping so I ordered it. Said it was in working order and I received it today and the handle and star drag were bent to where it was rubbing and would barely turn. I bent it back and the gears and such are still rough so I'll have to give it a good run through and possibly replace a few parts. The seller said he didn't know anything about reels and will be refunding me my $15 as well and I can keep the reel. Ended up with a free reel out of the ordeal and should be perfect for a channel rig. Still always in the market for some new rigs though.
I also saw a lot of bad reviews on the Ming Yangs.

those mings are not what they look to be. i had some and most had problems right out of the box. i would run an abu bcx before those heaps.
diawa millionaires hit the classifieds for a good price a lot. those are bad ass little channel reels

Picked up 2 older 5000's off a family friend for $20. They needed some major cleaning but the older ones are extremly simple and I got them greased and lubed like new. Wanted to downsize my channel rigs and these are perfect.
