Been looking for some new hooks and was considering the Team Catfish DA hooks in 5/0. Another member suggested these (Mutsu's) as an alternative to the TC hooks because of quantity and price. I was wondering if there were any personal experiences with these hooks or if the whole double action hook idea was just a gimmick. I mainly bank fish and had been using Eagle claw circles and it would seem that my hook up ratio fell horribly off along with being able to keep a fish on the hook. I DO like the idea of a double action hook as the cats where I live (SC) do not always hit and run, many times they just play with the bait so allowing my kids along with myself to be able to set the hook in non aggressive fish might be a big help. I was thinking that a 100 pack of the 6/0 offsets would be a good all around hook size. I personally came to love circles when I learned about them but find that unless the fish are hitting the bait hard they kind of lose their effectiveness which is why I am considering the switch. My daughter who recently started fishing with me and her Brother is having a harder time with the circles so I am wondering if these hooks would even the playing field for her and keep her interested.

If only to choose between TC's and Mutsu, Go with the TC's they have a wider gap. Which makes Bait hook up much easier. and after a slight tweek to eyes it will open up nicely. Check out the positions of the Octopus circle hooks from Bottom dwellers. I use those and the gamakatsu octopus hooks. they work awesome straight out of the box. The Mutsu look more like a j hook with a bent point than they do a circle hook. and the Tc's look like a generic brand of hook with a team name on it. But if you do choose between them. go with the tc.

I am not necessarily looking for a traditional circle hook but more of a I can set the hook or let the fish hang himself up on the hook. I was considering the TC's but the price was a little high compared to the Mutsu's considering I and my kids lose hooks in the river like crazy

I have always liked eagle claw hooks. they are flimsy enough that when you get hung up they can be pulled straight and let loose. But I have never lost a fish because the hook wasn't strong enough and they are cheap. and easily reshapable. I grab some from wal mart quite often. They are what i use for the kids. I usualy just give em a quick reshape as I getb ready to bait em up. I Save the expensive hooks more me to use.
