Looking for a forum to post in. It said General Board, at first glance it looked like getting board. Got a bit of cabin fever going on lately, And this warm spell isn't helping out at all. Might even go out tomorrow and walk by the lake just to see what I can find interesting. Thought about maybe trying so new places this year. Surely want to get a nice yak too. Anybody got one they want to get rid of in about a month or two?
As most of you know I've always targeted channels. And with quite a bit of success too. I've caught thousands over the last two years alone. There have been countless over 10 pounds, and at least around a hundred between 15 and 20 pounds. But only 1 over 20. A big beautiful fish that any seasoned angler would be more than proud of. However, I feel this is the best that the waters I fish on a daily regiment have to offer on the channel cat scale. They do offer Shovelhead which shall be my new target. The only problem I face is that the population in these waters is at a minimal. So hopefully with enough homework and dedication I can learn there patterns here and land some. I haven't heard of any small ones caught only a few larger ones.
I still plan to do plenty of channel cat fishin though. As my new years pledge goes it is to spend more time with my family. And since my kids love to fish, it will be easy. I also wish to get my wife back out fishing. She used to fish often as a child and teenager, but with so many younger kids it has been just to difficult to take her out. Now that all of our kids are old enough to enjoy catfishing. Maybe she can too. Of course my new years pledge is a two parter, Which is to also set a new PB. It doesn't matter which fish. Either way it will be a fun Chase and a fun year. My PB's stand at 37 for flatties and 20lb 4oz for channel.
