flathead 48.8 Muskingum River 2004 and 2006 channel 18.8 Tappan 2000 blue 31.2 Ohio River 2002
we have been catching more shovelheads over the past year or 2 than we have in the past 6 or 7 but we havent been finding size. I mean good fish dont get me wrong just cant get the scale to read over 35lbs and even those have been few and far between. The late 90s and early 2000s were much better. I feel like some of the heavy flooding has changed the stretch of river we fish and then the normal summer pool goes much lower than it used to and the fish just dont hold there anymore they just pass through. Also it seems like pressure is higher now and people are catfishing more in general, went from maybe bumping into someone 1 a month at most along the banks to having to check a spot or 2 before finding an open hole. It seems like things are looking up though and Kip proved the giants still are around. 1999 to 2002 was awesome for us on lakes and rivers

2013 was another tough year for me. Best flathead only went 54 and only a few over 50. But I remain optimistic. Snowfall this winter rivals 1997-98. That year shad population crashed and Mmagis and I had 2-3 great years of flathead fishing. One year we got a 50+ almost every weekend and I got got 3 flathead 60+ during a one week period. If those shad crash someone remember to bring out some sandwiches cause I won't want to come ashore to eat

this past season was the worst season ive had since the first couple years i really got into flathead. work kept me from being on the water. I was thankful to have a lot of overtime but that also caused a lot less time on the water. i only caught two flathead over 40 lbs this year and not many more in the the 30s. I did get to fish with some new people and put some of my buddys on a few fish. The best night i had was getting my little brother on his pb at 35lbs. PB flathead 53 lbs mwcd lake 2012 PB channel. 17 lbs tuscarawas river 2006 PB blue 0.0 never caught one

Shovelhead 48# muskingum river. Seems like I've caught a few right at 48 out of this same river.Although I caught what I believe to be biggest shovelhead fall of 2012 but didn't have scales on me.
Bluecat 64# and couple oz Tennessee river.
Channelcat 14# 8oz Lake Oconee GA. Lots of healthy channelcat in this 20,000 acre resovoir..they get mistaken for blues alot.

If you read my stuff you know I pretty much only fish for channels because that is all we have up here. My PB is 34 pounds set in 2007.
2014 is off to a bang with a weekend trip to Alabama I caught a new PB blue at 34 pounds and a flathead at 43. Not a bad way to start out a year.
