the big weekend is finally here .... this is the super bowl of channel catfishing out here.... looking forward to a weekend of no sleep and big fish!!!!

Held annually for over thirty years, the Clearlake Oaks - Glenhaven Catfish Derby is the largest catfish tournament west of the Mississippi. Each May hundreds of  eager fishermen and women visit Clear Lake for a chance to land the BIG ONE and win one of many prizes.

The tournament features: separate divisions for adults and children; food and entertainment; a $4,000 prize cash for the largest fish caught in the adult division; an Apple iPad for the largest fish in the children's division; over $10,000 total in cash and merchandise prizes.

what a great weekend....over 700 people entered... a group of 8 of us fished together and we caught a lot of channels. 20 of the fish weighed in over ten pounds. the biggest from our group was 15.1 unfortunately to hit the leader board we needed to get at least a 19 pounder....

I am already thinkin of next years game plan!!!
