I have the answer to why flathead fishermen fish night after night. They endure bad weather and frustration for weeks and months.  They spend hours gathering bait and preparing tackle and boats. Catmen rearrange schedules to allow fishing time. They study catfish, their habitat, life cycles, and research new areas and techniques.  They endure weather and the heartbreak of fishless nights in pursuit of trophy fish.  These images were snapped as I fought a trophy flathead. They were the culmination of years of experience and planning. Months of waiting and observing and long fishless nights were rewarded with a few precious moments fighting a trophy. These moments are why I pursue big flathead. |
