Just joined and there is a lot of good info here. I have been fishing for 20 or more years for mainly crappie and bluegill. The only ways I have catfished is limblines trotlines and if it comes a big rain and the creek comes down muddy then I do ok with rod and reel . Need info on catching channel cat . Mainly fish Cordell hull lake which is closer to a river that a lake...thanks Clint

Well that flat bottom maybe just what ya need. Channels love a nice fresh chunk of cutbait. They love shad, or skipjack. Some people love to use chicken liver or shrimp. I don't care for either of those, i've never been too lucky with either. But thats my preference. Not real familiar with your area but if its more of a river than a lake, i'd be trying in trees that have been dropped along the bank. don't be afraid to get right into them. bumping them with the boat aint always a bad thing. that little flat bottom will be realy easy to maneuver up close. and just drop your bait right on top of em. it will also be able to get up into the shallows where other can't. don't be afraid of shallow waters. I catch alot in 1 to 3 foot waters. If you take this aproach make sure you use a tough strong line to pull them out of log jams and not pop your line. I use 65# line. good luck
