So the last few weeks when I fish I can't even get a nibble from a flathead on big baits. I'm pretty sure it is due to the spawn so I have switched to using slip bobbers for channels the last week or so. No matter what I do, I have a problem, my bait getting stolen. I would cast large fresh cut bass or suckers, after 20 minutes with not even the tip of my rod bouncing i'd reel in nothing, no bait at all. When I started using slip bobbers I used small creek chubs and small suckers anywhere from 1 to 8 feet down. The bobber would go under, it would run for a couple seconds and when I yanked to set the hook it was gone. I started letting run for excess of 30 seconds just to try and see what it was, sometimes it would even be gone after that long of running. Yesterday I finally hooked up with it. I got it to the end of the dock and it was a gar. I'm positive this is what has been stealing my bait the last few weeks. Does anyone else have this gar problem? How could I fix it if it is even possible? Thanks for the help

I don't want to agitate or make anyone mad but most of the time my family and friends kill them around here. They even try to shoot the on the surface sometimes. I have respect for all fish unless they are bait! Lol but I would like to kill the gar sometimes
