OK, heres the deal...and the question. I have a (new to me) Minn Kota Edge 55lb thrust motor. I need to know from those that have more of a clue, if there are any recommended battery sizes? I understand that bigger is always better, but is it necessary, and will I gain anything by getting one? Bigger may be better, but cheaper is better as well. It probably won't see extensive use on any given day.Just something to keep me on track while drifting, and probably to move around while getting bait. Also, can anyone point to somewhere(prefered locally to Columbus) I can get the boat-side plug for said motor? Again, cheaper is better. Thanks

Obviously you need a deep cycle marine battery for your trolling motor. On the batteries there are two things you need to look for, RC (Reserve Capacity) or AH (Amp hours). This will tell you how long you battery will last given it uses one amp an hour. I think our trolling motor battery is rated for 105 ah. The other factor to look for is CCA or CA (Cranking amps), this is used for turning over your outboard motor. Its not so important when using a trolling motor. NOTE: Do not buy a cranking battery they are specifically designed to turn over you outboard. They do not last long when used and recharged. We have two batteries one costed $105 and the other $80. You will just have to look around to see your options. This is what I beleive to be true, Im by no means an expert on boating.
