So I took my son out over the weekend and he caught his new PB. It weighed in at 19lb 2 oz. He did all the work. The only thing I did was net the fish. He loves fishing so much. I know I was hooked at a young age and I wasn't catching anything like what my son is catching now. I still cant wait for him to get a big boy though. About 3 weeks ago we were out fishing and we were catching a bunch of smaller fish in the #10 range. Now usually he keeps the rod in the rod holder so it doesn't dig into him or pull him over, but we were catching smaller fish so he decided to start taking it out of the rod holder. Well he hooked up with a hog and it ripped him straight over in the water. LOL. Im talkin like he was laying face down belly and all in the water bear hugging my rod. I told him don't let go of the rod. LOL. I went over and he gave me the rod so he could get to his feet but by that time the fish had him in a snag. He got his first real dose of Flathead power that night. Now for that to happen to my 6yr old, it had to be a pretty big fish. He is a beast for a 6yr old at 4'4" and #76 and he is athletic and strong. He was asking me after he caught this fish if I would help him reel in one of the big boys. I told him if you want the glory you have to reel it in. LOL. He will land a monster someday. I just hope I can video tape it.
