There are alot of flatheads in the stillwater. Ive only ever fished it a few times for them but I caught flathead when I tried for them. Ive also seen some really nice flatheads come from there. 40lb plus Cathunter......What stretch of the still water are you talking bought? Is there good flathead's in the strech that is around u ville area? maybe by the 7up plant? and through there? just want to find some flats close to home so i dont have to go to the tusk or the lake all the time and on short notice that can be hard to find a spot lol

Isn't uville quite a ways up the stillwater tho? I'm not sure but I thought Its dumped into the tusk quite a ways down...I also believe smaller tributaries r over looked....I always thought if theirs plenty of food for em there why wouldn't they follow?

The reason you don't hear about more larger flats in the Stillwater is the lack of access. It's a winding steep muddy banked creek overall. There are nice flats in it, it's just hard to fish the good spots unless you are in a boat. There have been some very large flats caught in it over the years, as expected though most of them by liners that run the creek in boats. If you do get on it with a boat, make sure you can get back upstream just in case. I have been on it and have come up on log jams with banks on both sides too steep and muddy to be able to portage around it.

In small creek's what would your # 1 live bait be to use for flathead's if ya had it to choose? In the stillwater there are omg i can't think of what i have not caught from this creek so what would you choose? how would you fish it? where would you look for flathead's in a creek ?

Will there is a small creek near me that dumps into the tusk near strausburg/new philly area that we have taken some out of years ago. we stopped fishing it because we found other spots holding bigger fish, but i plan on fishing it again this year. the first flats we ever got from it were always on big chubs. never even a tickle on gills. this creek has a good number of smallies to which i was told by a warden who wades the creek for them that many times he has hooked up with a smallie only to be broken off by flatheads. whether he was full of shit or not i dont know, he had no reason to lie though i only called him to find out somethings regarding public and private along its banks. it is farther north than most flats move but i assume they move up it to spawn and some stuck around. Those would be the 2 baits i would try in a small system with chubs being number 1. just opinion though

I would stick with chubs......then bullheads as a 2nd option for the stillwater. Expect more channels than flats though. TCBA and his dad like to fish the bridge near the radio station, but I don't think they have caught any flats there. I know they use chubs all the time. Maybe he'll chime in with some better info on the creek. He's been fishin it a lot longer than I have.
