Hello all, i've been trying to figure this out for about a year now. I went fishing at one of our local lakes called Sylvan Lake ( Rome City Indiana ). Anywho, my wife and I caught several catfish out of the lake that exhibited some very strange spots. We ended up throwing them back into the lake, we weren't sure what it was and didn't want to eat them. Anywho, i called Indiana DNR and they never got back with me. The closest that I can think it is, is "ESC" Enteric septicaemia of catfish (ESC).. Has anybody caught catfish with these spots before? Did you know what they were etc??? Attachments:

Them are definitely some ugly spots. never seen that before. probably a good idea to throw them back.

I think I saw this somewhere else. I am pretty sure it was a parasite in the water and they live in catfish dens. I can't say for sure but if my mind isn't failing me that was what they looked like.
