I was attempting to clean my abu 6500c3 for the first time, and when I took the left plate off (the one with the clicker underneath it) these two small black plastic sleeves fell out. Someone please tell me where they go. The first on fell out as soon as I took the plate off. The second while I was looking for where the first went..... The reel is a 2014 model Attachments:

I got it figured out just now. I got one of my Abu boxes and it had the small card with all the parts and where they went. They go over top of the clicker mechanism once it is slid down onto the frame.

Can someone answer a question for me? I was told I need reel oil and lube by the cleaning video I am watching to help me. I got oil, but I can't find any lube, just grease. Is reel grease the same thing as reel lube?

I don't put anything but oil on mine. Grease likes to gum up. I usually degrease and oil even on new reels. I do the same on my guns

I thought those bushings were a lot bigger than what they are. Guess they are more like boots than bushings but they are tiny compared to what I was thinking

I guess the picture is a bit deceiving, I got it figured out anyway. Do you just use oxy clean on your reels when you clean them?

Glad you decided to clean them yourself. Now that you figured out what your doin, maybe a good time to order upgrades and install after your salt trip.

Can someone answer a question for me? I was told I need reel oil and lube by the cleaning video I am watching to help me. I got oil, but I can't find any lube, just grease. Is reel grease the same thing as reel lube? Grease & lube in reels usually refers to the same thing same thing. As a general rule if it meshes, slides or oscillates, grease it. If it spins oil it. Never use oil on gears, it just bleeds on to parts that need to be dry or greased. Oil on stressed parts doesn't offer as much wear protection. Cal's Drag Grease, or Penn's reel grease are good for gears and Carbon drags. Never use wheel bearing grease, it bleeds oil and gums up. All drags should be dry, except carbon fiber & and then you have a choice of dry or greased. Bearings and bushings need oil, the exception to that rule being larger reels with out cast controls. Worm gears can be greased or oiled. Grease collects dirt and becomes gritty requiring more frequent cleaning. Oil will have to be reapplied from time to time but doesn't collect grit like grease and casts farther.

Sorry for the miss information Morgan this dude knows the reels much more than me. I don't ever use grease but I can see where that would be a bad idea. I don't really clean my stuff well enough anyway. I hope I didn't mess you up. Thanks abudoc good post. Glad you got your reel back together bud.

I used grease when I did it anyway. My reels are now clean and put back together.
