If you don't have to worry about abrasion on rocks and brush and can afford it you could go with braid. I personally use mono 95 percent of the time but I river fish and/or fish a lot of cover and/or rocky bottoms most of the time

What size mono you use Jordan?. I lake fish and love my Braid. I've been using 65#. Will be steppping up to 100# this year. Either suffix832 or Cortland? I do switch to Mono whenever I hit the rocky section of the lake or the river. braid will cut super easy on rock under pressure.

I use 50lb hi seas mono. I have a couple reels with braid for really long hook sets for open water lake fishing

There are a lot of benefits to braid, line capacity, no stretch, ties nice, no memory, the list goes on. I am just to rough on it and get tore off a lot. Now for a muddy lake bottom you can't beat it.

Also I know some people love Power Pro, but personally not a big fan. Too many tests and reviews I've seen have shown it to be Not very good.

Scott I like Cortland that's what I have on my braid rigs. I had problems with power pro starting to fray. I do like the low test power pro for trolling and drifting for eyes, striper, and stuff
