Bait catching rod set ups

I am guessing most everyone has a beater setup used to catch chubs, bluegills, warmouth and the like. My own setup is a white ugly cat with a zebco all metal 33 spin caster, pretty in destructible. My question is does anyone use one of the telescoping cane poles? If you could pick one up for under 10 bucks that was a graphite/eglass blend, 10ft when extended and collapsed down to 3 ft would that be something you would consider for your baitfish catching rig?

Is use a throw net! More quantity less time.
But I also use a ice fishing set up for places I can't throw a net.
