When fishing for Shovelhead, I watch how much light I use, glow sticks on my rod tips, led headlamp... When fishing strictly for channels does it really matter? I am going to be switching lakes and fishing for channels for a while, my Coleman propane lantern is looking dusty and neglected over in the corner. Is it ok to break it out for mid summer Channel cats?
EDIT: I should have engaged search before padding my post count. Katfish had a interesting post about lanterns not affecting Channels at all.. guess I need to find a package of spare mantels and dust off the ol' Coleman

If anything I would say channels are curious little guys and light me even attract them.

Yea it has never hurt us. Like cincy said in the boat It helps. Attracts bugs and bait fish which will attract channels
