I was curious what you all look for in a fishing partner? I have been through many over the years and was wondering what you guys consider a good partner. I myself have only found a few guys that I can be around for many hours at a time. Lol. What's your input on this?

Man thats a rough one. I just fell into a fishing partner in high school. We didn't even know each other at the time. We were in Spanish class one day and I heard someone mention that they had a pond, so I chimed in and asked if I could fish it. Six years later and here we are. We have fished rain, snow, sleet, thunder/lightning, and even in tornado warnings.... . Couldn't ask for a better partner. If something were to happen and I had to find a new partner, heres what I would look for: IN ORDER BY IMPORTANCE 1.) Must agree on fishing ethics. (Catch and Release, etc.) 2.) Must have a good sense of humor. 3.) Must be a good photographer and netman. 4.) Must share the passion I have for fishing. Furthers their knowledge of fishing outside of time on the water. 5.) Must be able to put in long hours. 6.) Must be willing to fish all weather conditions

That pretty much covers it for me also Sean, I also like a partner that will pull his weight on catching bait.

I will fish with about anyone, unless I think they are a total "A" hole. However, when saying "partners" to me that brings one word...."Trust"!! Friendships are made over trust! We all can get along with most everyone.. But, when choosing who you would like to to meet your wife, kids, and and extended friends and family... Thats where friends/ nice folks are a seperation. Def. on sharing fishing spots. I have dealt with a lot of stuff over the past from people saying bad stuff about me etc. But, .... I keep a tight knit group of those I trust. And, will allow others in.. Only after they show me they are in for friendship, not just fishing! rollo

True, having a good bait catcher is also key when fishing for flathead bait. When throw netting it is also good to have a bucket man, or someone to dive in and get the net off of a snag ;D. I don't want to have to buy another throw net this year.

I'm kinda still looking for a fishing partner.
Thinking redhead 38-24-36 measurements. Looking for a generous happy girl who may also own a liquor store. She must have a nice boat.
I can stand if she is a nymphomaniac that don't talk much except to say yes or would you like me to get you this or that.
If you see a young lady like that let me know.

very funny stuff, but in all honesty, i look for someone that knows what they are doing, why should you be the one dishing everything out! and likes to fish the way i like to fish, i can not stand flathead fishing in a boat, they have to be up for fishing in any weather and not complaining about getting home or they are cold, helping with anything they can, and not being lazy, flathead fishing is not a lazy mans sport!

I'll fish with anyone who loves to fish so much that they will go at the drop of the dime if I ask them. Also, has to be ethical as sean said about following rules and doing what's best for the sport.

I'm right on with the rest of you guys. I don't wanna fish with someone that shows up with 10 rods for themself plannin on putting them all out lining a bank. I wanna fish with people that enjoy it like I do. No fun in going out and within an hour hearing complaining about the spot or whatever it may be. Some spots I would only take someone I trusted. I like most all of us on here have been burned by supposed friends sharing the spots you work hard to find. I don't mind sharing my tackle and sharing my bait, but if the person doesn't at least offer something it gets annoying. I'm the first person that will say no I don't need gas money, but you can tell a lot by a person if they expect you to always foot the bill yourself. Oh yes....NEVER use the excuse after being gone for an hour that yoru old lady wants you to come home she misses you.....hahaha

I have a good response to that one. "It's a long walk home so you better get to walking. I'll drop your stuff off in the morning." When me and my girlfriend started fishing together she wouldn't tell her parents that we were fishing all night, so she would get calls from her parents telling her that if she didn't get home she was going to be grounded. I used the statement above several times, it usually shuts them up.

I was nice enough to bring a lantern so she wouldn't be too scared. She wiped out and busted it on the travel in! I was carrying the bait buckets which I thought was my duty . But... made her carry the poles ... She didn't marry me in case you all wondered ! rollo

It happens man. It's better to let them know what they're getting into early so there is no wasted time. There should be a fisherman's wife thread, "what you look for in a wife". I bet it would be similar to what most look for in a fishing partner. ;D
