This is a Hypothetical question on Ethics!!!
If you were a successful tournament fishing team (for clarity purposes we will call them Fred and Barney) and you had met someone (we will call him Beauford) and decided to help him learn the ropes. Fred and Barney share their well guarded fishing secrets and, fishing holes with Beauford. Over the next 3 years, Beauford becomes a very successful tournament fisherman(winning and, placing in the top three in many top tournaments) as a result of Fred and Barney's kindness. He gets good sponsors and all the good things that come along with it.
Now that his success has become well known, he is asked to write an article in an ONLINE magazine about his story. He tells all those well kept (Fred and Barney) secrets and talks about the fish'n holes too.
If you were Fred and Barney, how would you take this? What would you do?
I know what I would do but, I don't think I would like PRISON!!!!!!!

As a shore fisherman my spots are few and far between so if I gave one up for someone else to fish and be successful with it I would be pissed to say the least LOL. Regardless Beau is a jackwagon and should be hurt and not in a good way or public way LOL

Good fishing spots are hard to come by, trustworthy people are even harder. New spots will emerge that are better than the ones Fred and Barney gave away.

It's not really about fishing spots as much as it is the tactic that Fred and, Barney taught Beauford. Those are the secrets that need to be kept, IMO!!!!

JW I see your point to a point LOL, what if Beau used it to teach others not using a magazine but sitting with others would that be just as bad? I mean this in a way of teaching not to gain anything, and just by word of mouth either gets notoriety or whatever.
Realistically not giving credit where credit is due is wrong IMO and he should really state where he learned what he learned

The fishing spots would be the least of my worries. The matter at hand here is broken Trust! That can't be given back. Trust in my eyes is one of the biggest things I look for in a friend and fishing partner. Most of my friends I trust with my wallet and my life! Just not my wife! Lol
