There is legislation to make catfish an invasive species. Which would make it a catch and kill fish for our trophy blues and flatheads in any of the Chesapeake Bay Tributaries.

Dear,________________.
I am an avid catfisherman that would like to be heard on issues of blue and flathead catfish in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I understand that there are groups of scientist working for the federal government that want to see to the eradication of the species in all of the Chesapeake watershed of which I am adamantly opposed to. Virginia is currently one of the top 5 go to states for trophy catfishing, to destroy this opportunity is unconscionable given today's economy and limited natural resources for the sportsmen. Vast amounts of money is being spent by myself and other catfishermen in pursuit of our chosen sport. To destroy this remarkable fishery is an unquestionable attack on all sportsmen who will undoubtedly shift their money and efforts to other states such as the Carolinas, Ky, WV, and Ohio in this region.
I beg of you to resist and deny these mandates set forth by these federal organizations and let common sense prevail in this overly disgusting, one sided, manipulated set of “facts”. No where do these study's show the positive economic impacts, sportsmen hours in pursuit of the trophy catfish, I respectfully request you show common sense and wisdom in your decision to protect catfishing, trophy catfishing and the sport in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
