I'll see what I can do. Honestly I enjoy hunting for them more than eating them. Might trade some for a fishing trip and the associated knowledge. ;D

You might be a little bit early Lucky. I'm going to head out and take a look this weekend though. Dogwoods are blooming, may-apples are just now sprouting, so it shouldn't be long. I believe last year I figured a 3 day difference in soil temps from where I mushroom hunt and where you guys do. I'll let you know when I start finding them, so you can be ready.

I've had several guys tell me that they are up in south and central Ohio. Seems like they have all been finding small blacks, usually around a dozen or so. I imagine if no ones pulling my leg, that this weekend should be pretty productive. As always I'll try to get a few pics up.
Jingles, its hard to beat an old apple orchard if you know where ones at. Other than that we prefer elms and Tulip poplars. If your in a good stand of woods and you see a tree thats losing its bark 9 times out of 10 there's gonna be shrooms around it, no matter what the type. We prefer older stands of forest over younger trees. Typically we won't even spend time looking if the trees are smaller than our thighs......and we tend to stay away from evergreens.

Found 67 blacks today. They weren't grouped real tight together, we'd find one here and one there. They were average size 3-5", just not in large numbers.
Luckeywade, I'd be hitting the woods in a couple days. Best of luck.
