check out this 27" 10lbs monster. do any of you guys fish for bowfin? alot of people hate them, even kill everyone they catch. i think theyre awesome and id rather catch a bowfin than a large mouth anyday. they get bigger, fight harder, and jump more. Attachments:

Bowfins are nothing but a nusence. I personally kill every one of them I catch. They like to eat up alot of the other fry, and eggs.

thats ignorant. bowfin are a native fish. all fish eat other species fry and eggs. bowfin inhabit mogadore(and all other waters in ohio) and they hav no effect on the the other game fish.

Well maybe I think its ignorant that you like to catch them but im not gonna sit here and start talking down to you. Im just sayin I dont like them and they are a nuessence. I know of a couple of oxbows along the tusc that 15yrs ago held alot of great fish but after the bowfin population took over you cant hardly catch anything from them other than bowfin.

I was intrigued by this argument and I can see both sides of it. Just to mediate a little; all kinds of fish have been seen at one time or another as a nuisance native or not. I love flatheads, but they have had tremendous negative impacts on the quality of fisheries in rivers and lakes all over the continental United States. Maybe this is one thing that you two will have to agree to disagree on.
Thanks for the link mogadorecatz87, I learned something new today.
