Anybody have any sure fire way to keep bullheads off the line while fishing for channels?

Agree with Michigan lover. Bullheads are sweet bait. Feel fortunate. Bullheads are hard to come by for some people

Don't recall doing much good when the bullhead are biting. Think I would pack up and move.
That or use larger pieces of cut bait

There's several theories that I have heard from others, I guess its what you want to believe here. On one hand I have heard guys say, if the small ones are biting......move on, because if the big guys were around the little ones would be running for cover. Life in Times in Catfish Country has an article about fishing for Flatheads and catching huge channels. They assume that only the largest of channels will feed with Flatheads, and the little ones find somewhere else to feed. You might be fishing that, "somewhere else."
On the other hand bullheads are good bait, and you can rest assured that if there's a source of food present something will find them. Channel or Flathead. It's Kinda like the wind blown shore theory......in which debris and algae are blown to one side of the lake, so the shad follow. In turn so do the cats. Try tossing one of those bullheads out and see what happens.
I might have over-thought that though. ;D
