Has anyone ever used cut drum targeting blues. I caught a monster drum last week and I was thinking that would be enough meat to last awhile. I could bag it into small bags and try it when nothing else works or on one pole experimental. They sure look tasty for a biggun.

That's a good question. We catch drum all the time and never think to use them as cut bait. I'd say it'd be better than nothing, but it will have less oil than shad or skipjack. It would be interesting to find out how it works.

I find they work great but only in spring. I don't use it enough to really know why that is.

The shad seems to produce channels even after being frozen, but the drum seems to simply lack the oils possibly that give off alot of scent. Have caught fish on drum, but there is a huge difference when comparing to other cutbaits. rollo
