I got one of these bad boys at the begining of the fishing season and i knew that it would be a good reel being that it is an Abu Garcia but i was literally blown away by this reel! It uses a new design that is actually shared between Abu Garcia and Penn for this reel design. The reasons i love it is that it is super smooth and thats the big thing that stood out to me when i used it for the first time, the second thing that stood out id how strong the drag is 27lbs worth, lets put it this way i was fishign it along side of my Abu Garcia big game 10000i which costs around 40-60$ more than an alphamar and it simply out performed it in every category, out cast it, was smoother, more drag, etc... so much so that i sold my big game 10000i to get another reel. Simply put it's a killer deal of a price vs. perfomace ratio thats out of this world!! The best price i have found for this reels is of course from Dave at Bottom Dwellers!!  |

I won one of these from Bottom Dwellers and bought another. I have not used them yet but all you hear is good reviews on them.

I also purchased an alphamar from Big Dave last spring, totally awesome reel, smooth beyond belief, super powerfull drag, and very stylish looks. My next reel will be an alphamar with out a doubt! Abu knocked this one out of the park. Great price,great reel.

craig in that second pic, is that one of those glow wraps on your rod? if so how do you like them in comparison to glow sticks like how long they last and what not.
