I've used them and like them and they are a thicker wire than the Gamas. Thing of it is I like the gap better on the Gamas and honestly have or do you know anyone that's bent out a gama? The extra price don't impress me on the daiichis. I think a lighter wire will be better for hook sets.

I was thinking about owner hooks I bought once. no the point bends in or in a zig zag to where it wont hook up on a fish ,it happen when you set the hook and it goes through the jaw bone,on blues it happens alot since the have alot of bone in the corners of there mouths

I know exactly what you mean Bobby. I once burried a circle hook into a blues rough patch....sorry for inproper anotomy terminology, the region where the teeth would be if they had them...and it took me almost 10 minutes to get the hook out. By the time I was done, the hook was straightened and my forearms were on fire. I have also had that happen on flatheads too.

best way to unhook a fish that is hooked like that is if the point is all the way out is to cut the line and pull it through the hole, saves alot of time on getting the fish back and getting the rod back out

Bobby, where did you buy your Gama's from? I have never really had that issue with them, at least not a lot of them. Maybe one per season. My biggest problem with Gama was the price and nothing over 8/0. That much PSI on the tip of a hook can bend the best of hook. The key is always check, sharpen or replace the hook after each catch. Now a hook that bends on ever catch,9 there is a problem in that batch or brand. I used Gama's for years and probably still would be if they would have worked with us to come out with 9/0 and 10/0 size. If your having that much trouble I would let Gama know and see what they say. I am sure they would like to know about it, so any issue can be fixed if there is one. That being said I know of a hook that I drove through the dead center of the lower lip though the bone on a 58lb blue last year and I had to cut the eye off to get the hook out. Done this more than once now and only had to touch one of the hooks with a file slightly.

Bobby, next time one does it send me a picture if you can. I will forward it to Gama. I had honestly used them for years and know 100's of guys that have never had any issue with them. It may be a while on what we talked about but I'm working on it.
