awhile back I was fishing for channel cats and was not getting any bites. Was using a sinker slide, swivel rig with a 12 inch leader under the swiveland then an 8/00 circle hook. after not having very many bites I tried putting a slit float with pins about the middle of my leader to get the bait off of the bottom(Santee-Cooper rig). Right away I started getting bites in the same stretch of water.......I guess sometimes we need to try different things to catch cats.....

Great post jingles I need to try this. That would work great for suspended fish fishing from the bank. Were you can't adjust your depth like if you were vertical fishing. It seems it would give your bait more action also. I'll try that next time. It seems the only way I could catch a large channel is if jumped in the boat.
