I finally got to see a mwcd lake yesterday with water level lowered for winter...I would guess its down a good six or eight feet...do you guys fish for channel cats any differently in these situations or do your tactics stay the same?

When water cools shad die. Cold water inhibits the shads ability to break down stored fat and since no plankton are present for food the shad starve to death.
Wind is prevalent from the West most of the time so dead shad will be blown to eastern banks after they die. Any channel cats feeding will seek those shad.
I reckon Eastern banks might have the wind blowin hard on you but might also harbor the most feeding cats. Channel cats are not as active as in summer but they still feed a bit.
