Who targets bluegills and crappies besides for bait? rollo

I target them in order to achieve master angler status through the fish ohio program. Once I get a trophy size fish I usually give them up though. Last year I caught a 9 inch Redear Sunfish and a 16"(2 pound 3 ounce) White Crappie. However, the time I caught the crappie I was bass fishing.

I am a multi species angler.I like panfishing especially big gills and redears and crappies too.Went ice fishing about 3 or 4 times this winter and then got bronchitis which knocked me out for the rest of the ice fishing season close to home.Thinking about going to kentucky lake in may for the big gills/redears i think crappies are about done spawning by then.Mostly use redworms most of the year and ice jigs/waxworms for the ice and bass minnows or jigs for crappies.Anybody else been to KY Lake.Thanks for the invitation to your new site and it looks great.Just bought a shimano saros ultralight reel and cant wait to try it out on the panfish and probably on a channel cat or two

I like fishing for crappie after flathead season is over. We caught some pretty nice ones at Clendening this late fall.

I fish for Crappie a good bit. My main fishin is Cattin and crappie. My best crappie are 16 1/4 inch from strip ponds, but my best lake crappie is 15.5 incher I won big fish with last year in a tourney. I also fish for smallmouth in rivers and creeks, but for the most part.....cats and crappie
