So massey you are saying in the spring head to end of lake with feeder creek and later in year head for the dam side? just making sure I understand ya...totally makes sense tho...also some good info in the blog article Kip...I've already read the article above in the past but it's been a year or so since so gonna check it out her in a few as well....thanks guys great info! With Cutbait in winter do u generally throw mostly cut Chubs or can u get away with things like shad and sucker? I know softer the better and always try for Chubs but don't always have the best luck but have a freezer full of shad going yo waste lol thanks again

Fished the dam in stubenville a couple times...I wasn't overly impressed it was fished hard and u had to share the area with like thirty other fishermen...sure that's not the case this time of year...but when we went the gar wouldn't leave bait alone long enough for a cat to find it lol....saw one flat come out and it was somewhere around fifteen pounds..maybe ask will (varmintsniper) he's been there more than me but never this late in the year so might not have valid info for ya...keep us posted how it works for ya if u end up going Jordan...

I don't know how many of you other guys out there are planning on chasing some channels from now till spring but I kinda thought maybe it would be nice to collaborate some tips and tricks in targeting cold water channel cats regardless of lakes or rivers I'm sure there's something we can all share and maybe teach one another? Anyone wanna share your thoughts?

Lil sharpy that is an amazing idea! I never even considered that...maybe bring water temp up to a steady 80 degrees in one tank using an aquarium heater and leave other one at room temp...love the idea man...I was pushing for moon phase but wasn't real sure how much it'd matter indoors but water temp is going to give Mikey a for sure guarantee result...I like it

Yeah if you find a good company going can get em cheap! And there aren't many duds as for the rods I've heard both ways but never heard of anyone breaking on either....good luck let us know if you try one!

Man few weeks ago I had three rods with big slender baits and one with a Gill....before anyone cries about extra rods my gf was there babysitting two of em...anyway I caught three flats In two nights two on gills and one on a live shad...never one had a run on big slender baits...for me this time of year they usually love big suckers and bullheads....may have been a fluke but wished I had more gills those nights...always seems they want the bait u have the least of and can't readily replenish...if it at all helps these were lake fish...so in fall I always like big slender baits but moral or the story is always have a wide assortment out because ya never know when or why they will want something new...

Cute lil guy gives me hope for flatheads closer to home since that river flows less than a miles from my house!

Kind of my thoughts about if they were big enough they wouldn't care. If you are right though this reel must be cursed because its the only one I have that seldom catches fish and always gets that short spurt out if the clicker...thanks mmagis

I have an Abu Garcia 7000b and the clicker in it is amazingly stiff. I always liked that for keeping bigger baits still so they didnt run the clicker at all. But while throwing cutbait I noticed i get quite a few runs that was only take a foot of line and never come back...think the clicker tention is scaring them off? Should I reserve this reel just for circle hooks and flatheads?

That explains why I only caught one 7lb channel and a leather back turtle...I was fishing an area that was about six ft deep...I tried to stay away from as deep as you are talking because I assumed there was a decent thermocline established...guess deeper might've been better even especially with as big as the moon was...anyone else have input? I'm hoping to get back out tonight...thanks jordan
