The okumas are great reels for the money. you can get them from catfish connection for less than $30. They arent too good for river fishing cuz the clickers pull out rather easily. But if you arent fishing in current they are a good reel. Ive had several of them over the years.

Cut bait is always better in muddy water, rather for channels or flatheads. But 99% of the time I use live bait for flatheads.

hey everybody. Chuck here. Ive been fishin for catfish since I was still in diapers. my dad had be on the river banks at 2yrs old. I have always loved fishing. In the last 5 years is when i really started getting into catching trophy cats. I am a 75% river guy ive caught a ton of flatheads from the tusc river, walhonding river, killbuck creek, and muskingum river. The MWCD lakes are also great fisheries which I have caught flatheads up to 47lbs. Looks like a good forum here. Glad to be a part of it!

I make my own as well. use a noodle like kids use in the swimming pool, shove a slip bobber down in the hole of it and you got yourself a slip bobber, just cut the noodle to the length of the slip bobber, they work fairly well too. put some glue on the slip bobber and then it will stick to the foam of the noodle for a while. they dont last for ever but what does anymore?

They are great in lakes, last year Ducky caught alot of flatheads using floats. The flatheads in the MWCD lakes seem to like the floats!

I use nothing but the swivels that Dave carries at Bottom Dwellers Tackle. They are good heavy swivels at a great price!

I agree Ducky, I have caught sooooo many flatheads on Bullheads in the rivers but not a damn thing on them in the lakes! totally blows my mind why the flatheads wont touch them in the lakes but they love them in the rivers

I had a frabill for about 4 years and i broke the hoop on it last year. I baught a Ranger from Dicks it was like $40 and it has a lifetime warranty. It seems to be really sturdy but I havent been able to test it out yet!
