Use a bobber stop, bead and a cheap snap swivel. blow up your balloon to what size you want tie a knot in it and hook the snap to the bottom of the knot. Simple and easy can switch from float fishing to bottom fishing in seconds.

I agree, a 22 pound channel is quite impressive. For sure a fish of a lifetime. Did it come from a body of water in Ohio? Got it here in Pa. Same lake that BigCatPat got his #28 channel.

After the knot and bead on a float set up some people tie on a straw. After the straw then follows the float, egg sinker, tube or bead, swivel, leader, hook. It looks like a straw with a round Styrofoam ball at one end. Here is a picture of what one looks like, I used one to measure a smallmouth. I make up a rig something like this for drifting lakes. I take 170lb wire push both ends through a egg sinker to form a small loop when pulled almost all the way through then I push the 2 ends up through the straw. I get styrofoam looking tear drop bobbers from the craft store that slide on the straw. I put a bead over both wires @ the end of the straw and T off the wire. Then I put swivles on the ends of the wire for a two hook rig. Forgot to say I use the straws that are used for the small hellium balloons they are about 2ft long and stronger than the candy straws. Hope this helps ya.
