Thats not that far off of Ohio Chuck. Less than 4 pound difference in flats and channels, the blue on the other hand is quite different. Ohio has only had a blue record for a few years now. There is just now a catch-able population. The 96 pound WILL be shattered soon enough. Within 3 years it will be over 100lbs. There's already a pretty consistent report of 80lbers getting caught by those who know where to fish. The populations is still growing and the size is constantly getting larger. My point is that there really isn't that much difference between our two states, that can't be said for others though.

Guess I am the only guy who kinda liked the team setup lol...but I'm in regardless...I also liked seans idea except it would kinda be a hassle from state to state...and also liked the idea of first to bust a fish over a certain weight but kinda think maybe it should be a separate pot instead of a contest unto itself...how long is the contest going to run kip? And would pic requirements be the same as last year?

Another thing I have been tossing around is the idea of two fish per person. This would give people more room, instead of banking on that one monster they could win with two decent fish. Using the proportion system you could have a blue and a channel, a blue and a flathead, or a channel and a flathead. The proportions then could be combined regardless of the species.

Here's what the Ohio proportions would be. Just for reference this would be approximately equivalent. 10lb Blue Cat........4lb Channel........8lb Flathead 19lb Blue Cat.........8lb Channel........15lb Flathead 29lb Blue cat...........11lb Channel.......23lb Flathead 38lb Blue Cat............15lb Channel.......31lb Flathead 48lb Blue Cat........... 19lb Channel........ 39lb Flathead 58lb Blue Cat............23lb Channel..........46lb Flathead 68lb Blue Cat..............26lb Channel........54lb Flathead And so on. In all honestly from experience I would say the channel cat is being under represented. A 15lb channel cat is less common than a 31lb flathead, or a 38lb blue.

I think the team concept is the way to go, you just need to have someone set up the teams so everyone has a member in good channel cat water, in flathead water and blue cat water. I have good blue and flathead water and tons of channel cats but the channels are small, on the other hand the blues are large and I don't fish for flatheads because in tournaments the blues are easier and there are more of them. Just my thoughts. It makes no difference to me, I'm in either way.

I'm in for flats, however you run it. I would like to see this be an annual "Catace" memorial tourney in remeberance of our fallen brother Steve. I would also be ok with this being a 50/50 style pot with half paid out and half to Steve's family or even all the pot going to the family. I think we are all doing this for pride anyway. Just my 2ยข.

I'm a blue guy. how do we pick teams. I need a good channel guy and a Flat guy on my team. I can catch some flats but I know were big channels are but I can't seem to draw no interest. After catching Blue its hard to set your mind state. While knowing 50 yards away may be the state recordblue surfing the channel ledge.

Amanda and/or I could go blue as well, if it turns out to be a blue/flathead tourney. You just better pair us up with some flathead catching fools. Cause there's a chance we could catch a 40lber, maybe even a 50lber...... but that's average for other places.
