I have custom rods by 3 different builders, 7 rods in total. 3- Blackhorse Custom Rods (Lyle Stokes) 3- Black and Blue Custom Rods (Randy Harris) These are no longer being made to order. 1- Gator Custom Rods (Jim Hudson) All are great rods but, my favorites are my Blackhorse Custom Rods. My Black and Blues come in a close second!!

Anyone have any of the Bone Island rods made by Polekat? I got 4 of them early this spring, and I caught my biggest flathead this year on one of them paired with abu7000. Handled great!

Chuck, grandt rods look and sound good. nice warranty. but a little pricey. i dont have 1650.00 to replace my 10 rods. money is a little tight right now. i think everyone would agree. maybe someday i can afford them. but for now ill keep buying my bass pro rods that work just fine reeling in giant flatheads. and 100lb logs off the bottom. lol. 24.99 i can handle that price. and a 5 year warranty. im not dogging out grandt rods. but im sure there awesome.

Offshore Angler™ Power Plus™ Rods - Boat Trolling.$24.99 I use the heavy and med heavy. Also these are nice ones to. Offshore Angler™ Sea Lion™ Conventional Rods. These are 10 bucks more. Never had a problem yet with these. I really like the eyes on them. Dont have to worry about banging them around in the boat or on the bank.

I have picked a few of those up at bass pro, but i always put them back before i check out. I liked the feel of them but they didnt have enough eyes for my liking. I think the 7 foot rod has 6 eyes..or 8 footer had 7 eyes.....and i typically prefer one eye per foot.
I busted a uglystick tiger a few weeks ago on a huge snag, but the inner core held the rod together enough to pull in a barge rope. A day or two later kip finished the tiger off on another snag, so i'm looking for a couple good flathead rods for my abu 7000s. I have been looking at the new catfight rods, berkley e cats from catfish connection, ugly stick tigers/customs, or the power plus rods. Just need to figure out what i want first.

I must have over looked them before. They are on sale now for 49 dollars, cheaper than a tiger and catfight rod. The only problem i have is the eyes have inserts.
You ever had one?

i have 4 of the new ones now and had 4 of the 7' 6" mh heavy old style ones for years. 2 spinning and 2 casting. i never ran into any eye issues with the 7'6"s casting or spinning. i asked kip about the 7' 10" heavy action because i knew he had a handful at one time and he said same thing never and issue.
they are my favorite flathead and general catfishing rods i had ever owned i was pumped to see them surface again, so i sold off some stuff and got 4 brand new ones. they are sturdier and sleeker than the old style. they have an ovalish shaped tip that holds the line right in the center of the tip keeping it centered on all the eyelets the whole way down. a little faster tip with a ton of strength the whole way through the blank. simply put they are badass.
inserts do make me nervous but there is enough solid feedback and my past experience to not worry me to much
