Sean I have a 7 foot offshore angler rod I will give you. Never fished it but seems tough.

Thanks for the heads up and info Jordan. I'll have some shipped to the house. Hopefully i find a few fish to test them out with before ice forms.

I bought a Team Catfish i-Cat, it is a very nice rod. But little pricey, very strong for its size though.

Have any of you used St. Croix classic cat rods before?

Rick the classic cat rods are sweet rods. Catfishrollo has one that I used on the river. Wish I had a few myself.

I have 2 of the Classic Cats in 8' Heavy. They are exceptional rods, but they are not my favorite rods. For general catfishing I never leave the house without my original E-Cat #3. I had stainless guides installed on the St. Croix's,the E-Cat, and a Quantum Big Cat. I have a Grant custom, and 2 custom Armbreaker rods. One is a Super Seeker, the other a Phenix Black Diamond Hybrid. Also have a couple Okuma Cedros speed jig rods. For everything except monster flatheads in heavy cover, I will take the E-Cat every time.

who put the stainless eyes on your big cats? A friend did it. Unfortunately he isn't looking for this kind of work. It's harder to do than wrapping a new rod.

Jordan, there's a guy in Newark that will do this. Rollo had some new eyelets put on a few of his rods.

I like my Catmaxx rod. Had eyelet issues in the beginning then returned it to bass pro and got a replacement after the salesman said the rod was fine its the person that is usually rough on the rods or neglets them is why the eyelets come out, which isnt true because i take good care of all of my catfishing equiptment
Anyhow after a verbal lashing i got my new rod and havent had a problem at all. Got a new baitcaster to go with it. Its an abu garcia baitcaster with the bait clicker option.
