Was fishin a small river not gettin any bites on shad. But my buddy caught a bluegill out the shrubs so I threw it on back into the same place I had the shad and caught a five pounder within two minutes. So I like using whatever the fish tell me they want to eat.

Will... Dave never used carp that big with you, but he did try to suspend one off a small bridge when we fished in Nebraska(I think it was)... We still couldn't get it to plant... Me and Dave use 1 pound carp all the time with their tails cut off and they still pull the clicker.... Don't give Dave crap... Not even cool dude

I like to use big suckers or live trout. This is a 14" sucker that I had on lastnight. I just wish I would have used a stinger hook cause I lost a real nice fish. He didn't want to let the bait go until I got it close to the bank. I wish I knew where I could get #1 carp. We just never see them around here that small. Attachments:

The past couple years I've almost only been using shad. Mostly because they work, you can't go wrong with a chunk of shad. This weekend was a tournament i didn't have time to catch bait for so i threw my minnow trap in the creek. went to the tourney with a nice bucket full of chubs. I forgot how much channels love these things. First pole in got a bite within minutes. needless to say we ran out of bait within the first hour and a half. caught a sheephead and cut it up. not even a nibble. went and netted some shad. and had a great day. Definitly a great reminder how awesome chubs are for channels. Man i love them things.
