Nice blue man. What's the story? How's the water level over there? It's been nearly flood level in southern. Ohio for weeks. Did you just release her or are you still looking for a certified scale? I have always wondered what I would do with a fish in that situation, probably release her. Of course I doubt such a situation will occur for me at least.

Congrats that's a hell of a fish. It's great to see that other people care more about the safety of the fish than having their name placed on a few websites and or papers. You could have easily carried it around in the hundred gallon livewell. But instead you released it and I think that's great.

Awesome a certificate and all. Seriously though there needs to be better ways to verify state record fish so that catch and release is possible. There are ways in which it can be done, but one must jump through rings of fire to do so.

I agree Sean. Me and Kip were talking about this subject earlier. My opinion is you should be able to contact an officer and they should come to your location on the water and be able to certify that fish there without the hassle of trying to transport the fish etc. rollo

Bobby This seems like all the motivation necessary to be prepared. I would contact fish and game and request addresses of registered scales and Ph # of fish and game representatives (also necessary) and a copy of the application to register a state record.
I know of one person who actually had to change State procedure in order to release a record fish alive. He got that accomplished and now needs to find the fish ;D
BTW IFGA will certify scales for weighing. You still have to find a witness and Fish and Game official @ any office of the West Virginia Wildlife Resources Section.to the application in W VA along with a side image (picture) and a $5.00 fee.
