When you say suckers what ya mean sucker fish. I'm not sure about where you are but here we have what are called northern hogsuckers. They are usually in any water from small rivers down to 10 foot wide streams. Most people cast net them but some people also like to catch them on a small hook and piece of nightcrawler. Most of them in my area are 5-20 inches long. I'll get a picture up in a second.

That's exactly what I have been looking at. Would I look for deep holes in the river?

Bank spot

So my favorite bank spot for flathead has been VERY overrun and overfished lately. I can't even fish there anymore. So I am wondering what advice you guys could give me for locating a new one. I'm not sure what to look for when looking for a spot. We just got lucky with the spot that is overrun. Caught many flathead there. I am very desperate to catch a flathead, it's been way too long since I caught one over 15 pounds. Probably over 2 months. Is it possible to use one in summer, fall and spring? If so that would be great and what would I look for in a spot like that? I don't have a boat so I drive to all of my spots and walk where we need to. Thanks for any tips, I really need to catch a few good ones before winter lol

I have a brand new in box penn squall sql30lw that I want to trade for an abu 7000. Reason is that this reel is just too big for my liking. It just feels funny to me when I handle it. I'm small also so that may be the problem lol 5'8

I just bough an alphamar 16 and a penn squall 30 for myself because I liked them so much on the boat. I went with the 30 just because I got a good deal on one and it puts our 5 more pounds of drag than the 20

I am asking this question to see what reel you guys would pick, if you were only allowed one, for all catfishing on all of your set ups. I am asking because I am helping someone outfit a boat, he wants all the same reels for good reason and those are his options. So if you would suggest another reel just tell me, but these are the options we came up with for the cost. In my opinion I told him to go with the penn squall in the 15 size for channel cats and move up to the 20 or 30 for flatheads and blues. Thanks for the help guys. Also, even though he is in a boat, he will be casting a fair distance. All of the reels I listed are capable in my experience.
