I am pleased with the Squalls so far, they seem to me as smooth as my Fathoms, the true test will come when the Doctor gives me the ok to start casting..

Jordan, yes I am planning on heading down. I have never met Robby, but with what he is going through, an evening of catfish talk and friends might be the ticket to raise his spirit. I am hoping some of the old Catfish Freaks gang decides to go, other then Kip I have never actually met any of them...fred

Decided on a Squall 15LW... I think it will pair well with my 8ft Okuma BC rod

I am looking for a pair of reels to match with Okuma BattleCats. I will be bank fishing a small local lake. Rigging 2ozs. Of weight med goldfish or 4-6 inch bluegill. Line 60lb braid... Top end Flatheads are 45 lbs, so I hate to drop the money for Fathoms.. Has anyone been able to cast these reels and have an opinion on which casts better, I am looking at the 15 size with level wind. I will be replacing a pair of Okuma Convector 20s. I have had good luck with the Okumas, to me they cast very well and have been mechanically reliable. My grandson wants to try fishing this year and I will be passing the Okumas on to him..

rough loss for Danville, 26-14... Kip I looked for you at the game, my wife and I headed to the land of the Fork to watch our grandson play for Centerburg. Turn overs killed a young Danville team last night... Good luck to the Blue Devils for the rest of the season

Jordan, I didn't get your text, with the onset of hot weather, I haven't done much but work on aiir conditioners and refrigeration problems... The line isn't eating much in my gun safe... I appreciate you letting me know.. I did manage to pick up an interesting reel.. An Okuma Catalina, it predates convectors has a machined/milled aluminum frame.. It's a 25 size, hopefully I can post a few pictures of it this week.

Jordan I was thinking the first week in October, though the thought of packing the Benelli, my Hydel duck calls and making it a cast and blast trip does sound tempting. As my plans firm up I might PM you for tips, I have never fished Clendening and my last trip to Salt Fork was in 1990

Jordan, looks like they are indeed out of production and have been for sometime, I have time to look, I am planning a trip out to Salt Fork, Clendening and the Muskingum this fall. I can probably get by with my 8ft battle cats on the lakes. The river may be another story
